Day 2 of #100dayproject
When a teacup gets chipped it often becomes a container for a small plant. They look so cute on my desk, or in the garden. So when I turned up for day 2 of teacups, flowers appeared. I googled 'honesty flowers' to add another dimension - while this was the intention, the image doesn't match what appeared today. The roots also arrived. Loads of metaphors here - the need to be properly planted, not just contained in a space that will never really allow them to thrive? Another life metaphor - whatever it is!!

DAy 3 of #100dayproject. Never having painted birdies before, i found this gorgeous fairy wren (native to south australia) online. It reminded me of the small sparrows and not-so-small pigeons that visit our garden courtyard each morning.

framing segments of a painting helps focus on areas that could hold insight.
After the 'swan flower' casing opened, these whispy silk-like threads emerged - each anchored by a seed, waiting to be whisked away.

flowers from 'town house' geelong. We'd been to see a French film in Geelong. A wet afternoon. And on returning a beautiful bouquet from Town House was on the door step. No better way to celebrate their beauty than to draw them.

Images tell a story. Stories that reflect precious moments that a camera can mimic, yet not describe in the full sensual tones needed. These are some of my stories told through a range of different mediums.

katie: she was well-loved. My brother and his partner's dog, Katie had been with them for 18 years. She kept her youthful looks right through. The darling of Darlinghurst. She will be well-remembered.

Painting offers a space of stillness. A place to reflect. These paintings describe the depth of our subconscious. The mindful moments we can mine for gems when present to them.
simple lines can be the strongest
a scratchy pencil sketch
I love how a line - a simple one - conveys a mood. It's as if a piece of what's moving inside enters the pencil and finds its own expression.
